    About the author: John Gresham Machen, D. D. (), was an American Presbyterian scholar and apologist. Born in Baltimore, he was educated at Johns Hopkins, Princeton University and Theological Seminary, Marburg, and Gottingen. He was ordained in M. STUART. Another librarian, later the Rev.
